Feed-In Tariff law passes in California

The passing of Assembly Bill 920 by Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael is a legislative victory for the solar industry. According to the provisions of the bill, the utilities are required to pay those solar customers who produce more power than they consume. The previous rules in net metering allowed a customer, at best to break even or not owe any money on the bill. The electric utility would then receive additional power without having to pay the customer for the energy that they produced.

Dave Gersz, CEO of in San Diego, responded, “AB 920 leaves out details of how much the utilities will pay for each kilowatt hour produced by the solar customer.  This bill only makes sense if the price is a premium to what they currently pay to the utility company.”
