San Diego Ranked #1 In California For Solar Power Capacity Potential

According to a recent study conducted by an independent non-profit group, San Diego ranks number one in the state of California in terms of the number of solar roofs and solar power capacity potential.

This is a dramatic change from just ten years ago, when San Diego’s solar presence as almost non-existent. With events like the recent energy crisis, and growing environmental awareness, however, more San Diegans are going solar, and the Union Tribune reports that there are almost 3,000 existing solar roofs in San Diego County.

If you haven’t already added a solar roof to your home, now is the time.  A new program, sponsored by the Kearny Mesa headquarters of the California Center for Sustainable Energy, will soon be allowing San Diego homeowners to be eligible for 20 year loans to be used towards the installation of solar roofs and solar projects.
